Rooftop solar for Hyderabad homes — TGSPDCL bill first

Independent advice for TGSPDCL domestic connections in Hyderabad and Secunderabad. Strong daytime loads and slab tariffs help economics — high-rise shade in IT corridors is the usual on-site check.

Hyderabad terraces are often RCC with heavy daytime loads — AC, geysers, and borewell pumps. The question is whether your TGSPDCL bill is high enough to recover net cost after central CFA. Sealix advises; we are not TGSPDCL and not your installer. Start with the free home check.

PM Surya Ghar in Hyderabad

Central residential CFA is commonly ₹30,000 / ₹60,000 / up to ₹78,000 for eligible 1–3 kW+ systems, claimed via pmsuryaghar.gov.in after DISCOM process and commissioning. Telangana does not add a separate Sealix subsidy — apply on the national portal selecting TGSPDCL. Full walkthrough: PM Surya Ghar guide.

TGSPDCL process (what to expect)

Apply on the national portal selecting TGSPDCL, then follow DISCOM feasibility and net-meter steps. Smaller residential plants often move under simplified or deemed-approval paths when complete applications stay within published capacity rules — still confirm live TGSPDCL wording before installing.

If applied PV capacity exceeds sanctioned load, TGSPDCL may trigger a load-enhancement path with charges. Do not treat that as free upsizing; factor it into net economics.

Hyderabad terrace realities

Independent bungalows in Banjara Hills, Jubilee Hills, and older Secunderabad cantonment areas often have clear roof rights. Apartment societies on shared terraces in Gachibowli, Kukatpally, and Madhapur usually need society resolution / NOC — often the longest calendar item.

High-rise shade is the other Hyderabad-specific issue: neighbouring towers block afternoon sun in dense corridors. Size from annual bill units, not a vendor’s “Telangana average kWh” slide.

Net metering in Hyderabad

Grid-tied rooftop solar needs a bi-directional net meter from TGSPDCL. Settlement rules follow the tariff order in force at commissioning — confirm live wording on the DISCOM portal before signing an installer quote. National explainer: net metering in India.

Sizing honesty

Many mid-bill Hyderabad homes land near 3 kW to capture the full central CFA ceiling. Going to 5 kW adds capacity with no extra central CFA — only worth it if units truly exceed what 3 kW offsets. See 3 kW vs 5 kW and ₹3,000/month bill guide.
