Portal walkthrough

How to apply for PM Surya Ghar — steps before and after you click Apply

Applications live only on the national portal. Sealix is not that portal. Use this page as a plain-English map of the usual consumer journey, then confirm buttons and labels on pmsuryaghar.gov.in — UI text changes over time.

0. Decide if the money works

Before OTP registration, know whether your bill recovers net cost after CFA. A 3 kW plant often hits the common ₹78,000 residential ceiling; larger plants rarely get more central CFA. Run the free home check, then confirm eligibility.

1. Register with state, DISCOM, and consumer number

On the national portal, start consumer registration / login. You will typically enter:

If consumer data fails to sync from the DISCOM API, use the portal’s refresh / validation path before you force a wrong number. Wrong CAN = stalled application.

2. Submit rooftop application details

Typical fields: applicant details (often auto-fetched), proposed plant capacity in kW, category, and an electricity bill upload. Use the portal calculator if offered — treat it as indicative, not a Sealix quote. Save and submit so you receive an application ID.

3. Feasibility / DISCOM stage

Rules for technical feasibility vary by state and plant size. Some low-capacity residential applications move with lighter DISCOM friction under national consumer-rights framing; others still need uploads. Follow your DISCOM’s live checklist inside the portal — do not skip steps because a WhatsApp vendor says they are “optional.”

4. Find and select a vendor

Choose a vendor listed for your DISCOM on the portal. Sign the work agreement and upload it when the portal asks. Prefer written scope: ALMM modules, inverter, structure, net-meter coordination, and warranty. Non-listed “cash subsidy” shops are a red flag.

5. Installation, geo photos, and bank details

CFA is processed after verification — not as a shop-floor cash discount on day one. See subsidy amounts.

6. Redeem / track subsidy

When the portal status allows, redeem or track CFA against your application. Timelines are weeks to months depending on DISCOM queue and document completeness. Keep screenshots of application ID and status changes.

Optional: loan path on the portal

The national consumer journey may offer a loan / Jan Samarth-linked option for eligible applicants. That is separate from CFA. Read rooftop solar loans in India before stacking EMI on a weak bill case.

Delays

Why applications stall

Bill name ≠ Aadhaar / bank name

Fix the consumer name with the DISCOM or align the applicant to the meter holder before you re-file. Portal KYC is strict for a reason — DBT goes to a verified account.

Missing geo-tagged photos

Upload requirements are not decorative. Incomplete photo sets block commissioning / CFA even when panels are already on the roof.

Vendor not on the DISCOM list

Switch to a listed vendor or you risk losing the CFA path entirely. Hardware already bought off-portal is hard to retrofit into scheme compliance.
