Rooftop solar for Gurugram homes — DHBVN bill first, not Delhi’s zero-upfront scheme

Independent advice for domestic DHBVN connections in Gurugram, Manesar, and Sohna fringe. You work in Delhi NCR, but your electricity bill is Haryana — not BSES and not the Delhi Solar Portal. Your slab bill still decides payback after central CFA.

Gurugram is the corporate heart of NCR — DLF, Cyber City, Golf Course Road, and a forest of high-rises. Yet rooftop solar here runs through DHBVN (Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam), not the Delhi discom. Delhi’s announced zero-upfront 3 kW scheme does not apply to Gurugram connections. Sealix advises; we are not DHBVN and not your installer. Start with the free home check.

DHBVN — Haryana discom, NCR geography

Most Gurugram metro domestic homes sit on DHBVN. Rooftop solar under PM Surya Ghar selects DHBVN on pmsuryaghar.gov.in, then follows Haryana feasibility, net-meter installation, and commissioning steps published on the DHBVN portal.

Border note: Some NCR fringe pockets near Faridabad or Sohna may show adjacent sub-divisions — read your bill header, not your office address. For broader Haryana context: Haryana state hub.

PM Surya Ghar CFA

Central residential CFA is commonly ₹30,000 / ₹60,000 / up to ₹78,000 for eligible 1–3 kW+ systems after commissioning. Haryana state top-ups, when announced, apply only to households meeting published eligibility at commissioning — do not assume a separate state cash amount unless an official notice matches your date. Delhi’s state capital support for zero-upfront systems is a separate programme. Full walkthrough: PM Surya Ghar guide.

Winter haze and high-rise shade — plan honestly

November–January smog across the NCR belt reduces irradiance versus clear-sky models for weeks each year. Gurugram’s tower clusters cast afternoon shade on neighbouring terraces — site survey matters more here than in open Punjab farmland. Size from annual bill units, not a summer-only estimate.

Net metering

Grid-tied rooftop solar needs a bi-directional net meter from DHBVN. Settlement rules follow the HERC tariff order in force at commissioning — confirm live wording before signing an installer quote. National explainer: net metering in India.

Sizing honesty

Many mid-to-high bill Gurugram homes land near 3 kW to capture the full central CFA ceiling. Going to 5 kW adds capacity with no extra central CFA — see 3 kW vs 5 kW and ₹3,000/month bill guide.
