Short answer: for a 3 kW home, Tamil Nadu adds ₹22,000 on top of the central ₹78,000 — about ₹1,00,000 combined. Track status on the TNEB USRP / TNPDCL Solar Homes portal after central CFA credits. Applies to domestic consumers who applied on PM Surya Ghar from 5 August 2026; the state top-up arrives as a second DBT.

Fast triage: Searching “TNEB USRP” or “TNPDCL solar subsidy”? Open tnebltd.gov.in/usrp for status / CFA tools after your national file moves. Amounts: ₹35k / ₹70k / ₹1L for 1 / 2 / 3 kW+. Registered before 5 Aug 2026? Central only.
Check if TN subsidy makes my bill worth it · Is solar worth it?
| System size | Central (PM Surya Ghar) | Tamil Nadu top-up | Combined |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 kW | ₹30,000 | ₹5,000 | ₹35,000 |
| 2 kW | ₹60,000 | ₹10,000 | ₹70,000 |
| 3 kW and above | ₹78,000 | ₹22,000 | ₹1,00,000 |
Both amounts stop rising at 3 kW. A 5 kW plant gets the same ₹1,00,000 as a 3 kW plant — see 3 kW vs 5 kW and how the central bands add up.
So if ₹78,000 arrives on its own, that is expected — not a rejected state claim. Track both on tnebltd.gov.in/usrp (TNPDCL’s rooftop / USRP portal — status, CFA apply helpers, vendor list) and pmsuryaghar.gov.in.
People searching “TNEB USRP” usually want the official TN Solar Homes site run by TNPDCL (legacy TNEB branding still shows in search). Use it to:

The state allocated ₹50 crore this financial year with a target of one lakh homes by March 2027. The minister said more funds would be sought if demand crosses the target, but nothing guarantees that in advance. A file that clears inspection without corrections gets its central credit — and therefore its state credit — sooner. The usual file-killers are covered in 12 application mistakes.
₹1 lakh off the price is real money, but payback depends on what solar actually saves you. Tamil Nadu domestic bills are bi-monthly and include free initial units, so a small bill has less to offset than the same units would in many other states. A home using a few hundred units per cycle may find a 2 kW plant pays back better than 3 kW; a heavy AC household usually justifies 3 kW or more.
That is the question our free bill check answers: enter your bill, and we estimate size, combined subsidy and payback before you talk to any vendor.

Tamil Nadu adds a state top-up on top of the central PM Surya Ghar subsidy: ₹5,000 for 1 kW, ₹10,000 for 2 kW and ₹22,000 for 3 kW and above. Combined with central CFA (₹30,000 / ₹60,000 / ₹78,000) that is about ₹35,000, ₹70,000 and ₹1,00,000. Notified by G.O. (Ms) No. 102, Energy Department, 19 September 2026; launched 21 September 2026.
Domestic (residential) consumers in Tamil Nadu who applied on the PM Surya Ghar portal from 5 August 2026 onwards, install a grid-connected plant through an empanelled vendor, and qualify for central CFA. Households that registered before 5 August 2026 get only the central subsidy.
No. The minister said that once the central subsidy is credited, the state portal automatically processes and releases the additional state subsidy — consumers do not submit a separate application. Scheme details, vendor list and status are on the TNPDCL USRP portal (tnebltd.gov.in/usrp).
No. Expect two separate Direct Benefit Transfer credits: the central CFA (up to ₹78,000) first, then the Tamil Nadu top-up (up to ₹22,000) after it. Receiving ₹78,000 alone does not mean the state claim failed.
No. Both the central CFA (₹78,000) and the state top-up (₹22,000) stop rising at 3 kW, so a 5 kW plant gets the same ₹1,00,000 combined as a 3 kW plant. Size to your bill, not to the subsidy.
