Residential CFA bands

How much subsidy for 1 kW, 2 kW and 3 kW?

These are the common India-wide residential Central Financial Assistance steps. Special-category territories may publish higher bands.

Eligible capacityCommon central CFAHow it adds up
1 kW₹30,000First kilowatt
2 kW₹60,000₹30,000 + ₹30,000
3 kW and aboveUp to ₹78,000₹30,000 + ₹30,000 + ₹18,000 (ceiling)

A 5 kW or 10 kW plant does not automatically get more than ₹78,000 central CFA on this path. Extra kilowatts past the third are usually full cost — see 5 kW price and 3 kW vs 5 kW.

What “₹78,000 for 3 kW” actually means

It is a reimbursement ceiling, not a free plant and not a cash offer from Sealix or any installer. You (or a loan) pay the installer the agreed turnkey amount. After DISCOM metering, inspection and commissioning clear, the central CFA is credited to your bank by Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

What the subsidy does not cover

Special-category and state extras

Hill / North-East / notified special-category states and UTs often publish a higher CFA table (commonly discussed near ₹33,000 / ₹66,000 / ₹85,800 for 1 / 2 / 3 kW). Do not apply a Delhi brochure to Himachal or Assam without checking the portal. Some states also advertise top-ups — treat those as verify live at commissioning, not flyer truth: state top-up guide.

Eligibility still gates the money

The amount table only matters if your home clears the scheme filters: domestic connection, roof rights, no prior central CFA for that address, empanelled vendor, eligible equipment. How to check: eligibility checklist · apply path: how to apply.

Bill fit beats maximum CFA

₹78,000 is the ceiling, not a reason to buy. A home on a ₹800/month bill can be eligible and still make a poor financial decision. A home on a ₹3,000 slab bill may clear payback faster even if the gross quote is mid-range. Run the free home check before you chase quotes.
