Rooftop solar for Pune homes — MSEDCL bill first

Independent advice for domestic MSEDCL connections in Pune and PCMC. See PM Surya Ghar subsidy, monthly savings, and payback before any installer visit — including society NOC timelines on shared terraces.

Pune’s dry-season irradiance is strong; monsoon still cuts annual yield versus brochure peaks. The decision hinge is whether your MSEDCL bill recovers net cost after central CFA. Start with the free home check.

PM Surya Ghar in Pune

Central CFA matches the national bands: commonly ₹30,000 / ₹60,000 / up to ₹78,000 for eligible 1–3 kW+ residential systems, claimed via pmsuryaghar.gov.in. District scheme pages mirror the same CFA; they are not a separate Sealix subsidy. National walkthrough: PM Surya Ghar guide.

MSEDCL process (what to expect)

Most Pune homes sit on MSEDCL — not Mumbai’s Adani / Tata / BEST maze. Apply on the national portal selecting MSEDCL, then follow DISCOM feasibility / net-meter steps. Smaller residential plants often move under simplified or deemed-approval paths when complete applications stay within published capacity rules (commonly discussed up to 10 kW) — still confirm live MSEDCL / portal wording before installing.

If applied PV capacity exceeds sanctioned load, MSEDCL may auto-create a load-enhancement path with charges. Do not treat that as free upsizing; factor it into net economics.

Societies vs bungalows

Independent bungalows with clear roof rights move faster. Flats on common terraces usually need society resolution / NOC — often the longest calendar item in Pune societies. Run bill maths first so you do not burn AGM cycles on a plant that never pays back.

Sizing honesty

Many mid-bill Pune homes land near 3 kW to capture the full central CFA ceiling. Going to 5 kW adds capacity with no extra central CFA — only worth it if units truly exceed what 3 kW offsets. See 3 kW vs 5 kW.
