Maharashtra · subsidy amounts 2026
If you searched “solar subsidy Maharashtra” or “rooftop solar subsidy in Maharashtra”, start with the PM Surya Ghar CFA every eligible home can claim. The SMART state top-up is real but narrow: MSEDCL, under 100 units a month, and often still waiting on the utility list.

Fast triage: Plan on ₹30,000 / ₹60,000 / ₹78,000 for 1 / 2 / 3 kW+. Under 100 units on MSEDCL? Check SMART before you pay a vendor. Over 100 units or Mumbai licensee bills? Central CFA only — that is still the full rooftop solar subsidy for most Pune / Nagpur / Nashik homes. Thin bill and not SMART? Is solar worth it?

The Swayampurna Maharashtra Residential Rooftop (SMART) scheme (GR 6 October 2025) adds a state share for domestic MSEDCL consumers using less than 100 units a month. On a 1 kW plant at the ₹50,000 benchmark used in scheme communications:
| Category | Central | State (SMART) | You pay (approx.) |
|---|---|---|---|
| BPL, under 100 units | ₹30,000 | ₹17,500 (35%) | ₹2,500 |
| SC / ST, under 100 units | ₹30,000 | ₹15,000 (30%) | ₹5,000 |
| Other low-use (as reported at launch) | ₹30,000 | ₹10,000 (20%) | ₹10,000 |
| Over 100 units a month | Up to ₹78,000 | None | Rest of the price |
MERC (Case No. 184 of 2026) approved a large utility-led aggregation list. Many eligible homes are still waiting — check your sub-division or the MSEDCL i-SMART portal before treating SMART as a private-vendor discount. Adani, Tata Power and BEST bills are not automatic SMART paths. State depth: Maharashtra hub · MSEDCL guide · SC/ST by state.
Register on pmsuryaghar.gov.in with the DISCOM on your bill (usually MSEDCL outside Mumbai licence areas). Empanelled vendor → feasibility → install → net meter → commissioning → CFA DBT. SMART eligible homes may also move through MSEDCL’s aggregation path — ask which desk owns your file.
Central CFA ₹30,000 / ₹60,000 / ₹78,000 for 1 / 2 / 3 kW+. SMART top-up only for qualifying MSEDCL homes under 100 units a month on a 1 kW path.
A state top-up on PM Surya Ghar for low-use MSEDCL homes. BPL can pay about ₹2,500 out-of-pocket on the 1 kW benchmark. Confirm i-SMART / sub-division before you pay a private quote.
No. CFA is DBT after commissioning. You fund the gross quote first.
Thin bill without a SMART near-zero path, heavy shade, or no society NOC. See is solar worth it?.
