APCPDCL was carved out of APSPDCL, so a vendor (or an old brochure) may still say "APSPDCL" for Vijayawada or Guntur. Trust the company name on your bill. Selecting the wrong DISCOM at registration leaves the file unprocessed. Nellore, Tirupati, Kadapa, Ananthapur and Kurnool are APSPDCL; Visakhapatnam, the Godavari districts and Eluru are APEPDCL.
| Household | Support | Route |
|---|---|---|
| OC / general | ₹30,000 (1 kW) · ₹60,000 (2 kW) · ₹78,000 (3 kW+) | Apply yourself on the portal, empanelled vendor |
| BC | ₹20,000 extra from the state: ₹80,000 (2 kW) · ₹98,000 (3 kW) | Own plant; confirm the state amount shows on your application |
| SC / ST, up to 200 units a month | Plant up to 2 kW free | APCPDCL survey and consent; APCPDCL owns the plant and pays roof rent |
SC/ST progress on APCPDCL: the free-plant programme runs under the utility-led (ULA) model. By 4 August 2026, APCPDCL had completed 35% of its target (APSPDCL 47%, APEPDCL 32%). In Prakasam, the Energy Minister opened installations on 120 houses in the SC colony at Velamuripadu (Addanki mandal) in April 2026, part of about 6,000 SC families being covered free in the Addanki constituency. If you are eligible and nobody has surveyed your house, ask your section office (AE). Full rules, ownership and roof rent: AP solar scheme for SC, ST and BC homes.
Fees: in April 2025 APERC waived the application fee and net-metering cost for domestic grid-connected rooftop plants up to 10 kW under PM Surya Ghar, on requests from the AP DISCOMs. A quote line for "APCPDCL fee" or "net meter charges" on a home plant needs explaining. A load enhancement charge can still apply if your plant is bigger than your sanctioned load.
Pace: APCPDCL says it had synchronised 50,114 rooftop connections (180 MW) by July 2026, up from 6,489 in April 2025, with daily reviews of empanelled vendors. A file that sits at feasibility or inspection for weeks is the exception, not the norm, and is worth chasing.
Coastal Andhra sun is strong, but solar only saves the units you are paying for. Homes averaging under about 150–200 units a month rarely pay back. From roughly a ₹1,500 monthly bill, a 3 kW plant at ₹78,000 subsidy usually does, and a BC home at ₹98,000 does sooner. Size from 12 months of bills, not one summer bill. Prices: 3 kW · 5 kW. Financing: solar loans.
An independent advisory, not APCPDCL, not NREDCAP and not an installer. We don't file applications or sell panels. We read your bill and tell you straight whether rooftop solar pays for your home: free bill check for Vijayawada and Guntur · Ongole and Prakasam.
APCPDCL (Andhra Pradesh Central Power Distribution Corporation) serves the NTR, Krishna, Guntur, Palnadu, Bapatla and Prakasam districts, which includes Vijayawada, Guntur, Tenali, Machilipatnam, Narasaraopet and Ongole. It was carved out of APSPDCL, so older brochures and some vendors still say APSPDCL for these towns. On the PM Surya Ghar portal, select the DISCOM printed on your bill; for these districts that is APCPDCL.
The central PM Surya Ghar subsidy: ₹30,000 for 1 kW, ₹60,000 for 2 kW and ₹78,000 for 3 kW and above, paid to your bank after commissioning. BC households get ₹20,000 more from the state (₹80,000 for 2 kW, ₹98,000 for 3 kW). SC and ST households using up to 200 units a month get a plant of up to 2 kW free through the DISCOM's utility-led route, where APCPDCL owns the plant and pays roof rent.
Not for domestic plants up to 10 kW under PM Surya Ghar. In April 2025 APERC waived the application fee and net-metering cost for domestic grid-connected rooftop plants up to 10 kW across the AP DISCOMs. If a vendor's quote shows a separate APCPDCL application or net meter charge for a home plant, ask what it is for. A load enhancement charge can still apply if the plant exceeds your sanctioned load.
Start with your section office (AE) with your application number and service connection number. APCPDCL's toll-free line is 1912, and the Central Power app takes complaints. For a stalled file, escalate to the circle office (Vijayawada/NTR, Krishna, Guntur or Prakasam circle) and then use the grievance route on pmsuryaghar.gov.in. Keep every complaint number.
