Fast triage: Bill says APEPDCL? Register on pmsuryaghar.gov.in with APEPDCL and your service number exactly as printed. You get ₹78,000 for 3 kW (BC: ₹98,000). SC/ST home: a 2 kW plant is free, so don't pay a vendor for it. There is no application or net-meter fee for home plants up to 10 kW. Paying yourself? Check your bill first.

SC/ST progress on APEPDCL: APEPDCL has tendered free 2 kW plants for about 2 lakh SC and ST households. One contract alone covers 44,998 homes (90 MW) in the Narsipatnam, Palakonda, Peddapuram, Ramachandrapuram, Tekkali, Vizianagaram Rural and Tadepalligudem divisions. In Visakhapatnam district, 3,595 beneficiaries were identified (7.19 MW, ₹41.35 crore), with installations at Chinna Waltair and Relli Veedhi opened in April 2026. Statewide, APEPDCL was at 32% of its SC/ST target on 4 August 2026. If you are eligible and nobody has surveyed your house, ask your section office (AE). Fees: APEPDCL itself asked APERC to waive charges, and in April 2025 APERC waived the application fee and net-metering cost for domestic grid-connected rooftop plants up to 10 kW under PM Surya Ghar, for all AP DISCOMs. A quote line for "EPDCL fee" or "net meter charges" on a home plant needs explaining. A load enhancement charge can still apply if the plant exceeds your sanctioned load.
Pace: by 30 June 2026, 88,561 APEPDCL consumers had grid-connected rooftop systems (475.33 MW). 2025–26 was the record year at 51,583 new systems (197.09 MW), up from 8,307 in 2024–25. A file that sits for weeks at feasibility or inspection is worth chasing.
Most APEPDCL homes are within reach of salt air and cyclone winds, from Srikakulam to the Godavari delta. The panels rarely fail first; the mounting structure, fasteners and earthing do. Ask for the structure's galvanisation grade, stainless fasteners, and a wind-load rating suitable for the coast. A quote that is cheaper because it skipped these will cost more within a few monsoons.
Solar only saves the units you are paying for. Homes averaging under about 150–200 units a month rarely pay back. From roughly a ₹1,500 monthly bill, a 3 kW plant with the ₹78,000 subsidy usually does, and a BC home with ₹98,000 does sooner. Size from 12 months of bills. Prices: 3 kW · 5 kW. Financing: solar loans.
An independent advisory: not APEPDCL, not NREDCAP and not an installer. We don't file applications or sell panels. We read your bill and tell you straight whether rooftop solar pays: free bill check for Visakhapatnam · Rajahmundry and Godavari.
APEPDCL (Eastern Power Distribution Company of Andhra Pradesh) serves 11 districts: Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Parvathipuram Manyam, Visakhapatnam, Anakapalli, Alluri Sitharama Raju, Kakinada, East Godavari, Dr B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema, West Godavari and Eluru. That includes Visakhapatnam, Rajahmundry, Kakinada, Eluru and Bhimavaram. On the PM Surya Ghar portal, select APEPDCL if that is the company printed on your bill.
The central PM Surya Ghar subsidy: ₹30,000 for 1 kW, ₹60,000 for 2 kW and ₹78,000 for 3 kW and above, paid after commissioning. BC households get ₹20,000 more from the state (₹80,000 for 2 kW, ₹98,000 for 3 kW). Eligible SC and ST households get a 2 kW plant free; APEPDCL has tendered this for about 2 lakh SC and ST homes in its area.
Not for domestic plants up to 10 kW under PM Surya Ghar. On APEPDCL's request, APERC in April 2025 waived the application fee and net-metering cost for domestic grid-connected rooftop plants up to 10 kW, and the waiver covers all the AP DISCOMs. A load enhancement charge can still apply if the plant is bigger than your sanctioned load.
Your section office (AE) first, with your application number and service number. APEPDCL's toll-free line is 1912, it takes complaints on WhatsApp at 85000 01912, and the Eastern Power app tracks complaints and new service applications. If the file is still stuck, escalate to the circle office for your district and then use the grievance option on pmsuryaghar.gov.in.
